The City Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is planning a Summer Jobs & Career Fair for Teens on Wednesday, February 13, 2012 from 2pm-4pm in the Oak Ridge High School Café.  The event will introduce students to possible summer job opportunities, future careers, and to potential colleges as well.  The event will also serve as an excellent opportunity for vendors to meet potential employees.

The City YAB donated a laptop, an e-reader, and $100 in gas gift cards as door prizes at last years’ event to encourage students to attend the event.  The board is expected to offer similar door prizes again this year.  Vendors are also strongly encouraged to give away additional door prizes.

The list of vendors will include the City of Oak Ridge who will be recruiting young people who might be interested in careers in Police, Fire, Lifeguarding, Utility work, and Summer Camps.

While participation for students and vendors is free, vendors are required to submit a vendor form for approval by January 31st.  To obtain a form, please send an email to Recreation and Parks Program Supervisor Matt Reedy at mreedy@oakridgetn.gov.  If you have questions about the City YAB, contact Matt Reedy at 425-3442 or visit the City of Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department website at: www.orrecparks.org
