On Monday, June 3 at approximately 2:45 p.m. citizens visiting the Oak Ridge Civic Center reported to staff at the front counter that a person was floating face down in the Civic Center Fountain.
Resuscitation efforts were immediately initiated and emergency services from Oak Ridge Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene.
The victim was transported to Methodist Medical Center, and is currently receiving treatment. The victim is an adult female believed to be in her mid-to-late thirties.
The Oak Ridge Police Department is conducting a preliminary inquiry, which is ongoing. The Plaza area was closed for a short time during this investigation, but has been reopened. No hazards have been identified in the fountain.
