The Oak Ridge Fire Department held a ceremony on June 11, 2013 welcoming two new members to the organization.  The event was held at Fire Station Number 3 and Firefighter Trainees Courtney McCarter and Joe Brackins were sworn in as members of the fire department.  Both firefighters began their service for the department on April 22nd and have completed multiple trainings since joining the department. 

Courtney McCarter comes to the Oak Ridge Fire Department from the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department where he served for 7 years and is presently the Assistant Fire Chief.  Firefighter McCarter is a certified firefighter through the Tennessee Commission on Fire Fighting and is a licensed EMT.  FF McCarter has been assigned to Fire Station Number 3.  Courtney is married to Pamalyn and has four children Austin, Kinsley, Rylie, and Cayden.  

Joe Brackins comes to the Oak Ridge Fire Department from the Pigeon Forge Fire Department where he has served for 11 years.  Firefighter Brackins is a certified firefighter through the Tennessee Commission on Fire Fighting and is a licensed EMT.  Firefighter Brackins has been assigned to Fire Station Number 1.  Joe is married to Misty.   

Fire Chief Darryl Kerley stated “We continue to look to recruit and hire the best possible people for the department when positions come open so that we can continue to provide the highest quality of service that the citizens of Oak Ridge deserve from their fire department.  Both men have extensive training records and are experienced firefighters who will help the fire department in continuing forward with its mission of providing the best service possible to the citizens.”
