The City of Oak Ridge would like to update the public regarding the May and June 2014 City Council regular meetings.

During the March 24, 2014 City Council Special Meeting, City Council approved Ordinance No. 03-2014 that changed the due date of city taxes to the first day of July and the delinquency date after the 31st day of August, so as to better benefit the City and the taxpayers.  Following adoption of this ordinance, the City adjusted the budget meeting schedule to coincide with the tax due date changes.

Typically, the City schedules consideration of the appropriations ordinance by the City Council in May; however, this year, the appropriations ordinance will be considered in June, thus reducing the number of meetings in May to just one regularly scheduled meeting of the City Council.  This meeting is scheduled to occur on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the Courtroom of the Municipal Building.

June, however, will have three regularly scheduled meetings of the City Council with each meeting including discussions for the FY2015 budget.  The budget schedule for June is scheduled as follows:

Monday, June 2, 2014

Regular Meeting including Formal Budget Presentation by the City Manager

Monday, June 9, 2014

Public Hearing and First Reading of Appropriations Ordinance (Budget)

Monday, June 16, 2014

Second Reading (Final Adoption) of Appropriations Ordinance

Each of the aforementioned June meetings are scheduled to commence at 7:00 p.m. in the Courtroom of the Municipal Building.
