Oak Ridge Public Library is pleased to announce a new digital subscription with NewsBank. Library patrons can find full-text articles on local news, issues, events, people, and much more from current and archived issues of The Oak Ridger. Updated daily, it includes obituaries, editorials, announcements, sports, real estate and other sections. You can search full text articles from February 17, 1997 to the current edition.
NewsBank also offers access to America’s News. This collection is free to library patrons and is updated daily. America’s News provides Web-based access to current and archived issues of over 25 national magazines. Patrons looking for political news can browse The Atlantic, Commentary, Foreign Affairs, National Review, New Republic, or Slate. Families may be interested in reading Baby Talk, Parenting, Parenting School Years, or Working Mother. For up to date science news, students can read Air & Space, Mother Earth News, Popular Science, Science Illustrated, Science News or Smithsonian.
NewsBank's Special Reports focus on topics of contemporary interest. They include content from sources throughout the world to provide a global perspective. Current and background information, statistics, maps, images, suggested websites and search terms are listed to further research on a topic. New information is added daily to featured reports. Newsbank is currently featuring special reports on the Scottish referendum and World Alzheimer’s Day. Archived reports are also available on a number of international topics.
