The Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department is conducting the American Red Cross Lifeguard course on December 26, 27, 29, and 30, 9:00am to 5:00pm.  This course is now available in a blended learning format which will include more water sessions. Attendance is required at all classroom and water sessions.

Applicants must be at least 15 years old and take a prerequisite test in order to register for this course. The prerequisite test will be held on Wednesday, December 17th at 2:15 at the Civic Center indoor pool. The test will include a 300-yard continuous swim using the front crawl and breastroke using rhythmic breathing. A timed, 20-yard swim, recovery of a 10-pound weight and treading water for 2-minutes using legs only.

The course fee will be payable once the applicant has passed the prerequisite testing. The complete fee for this course is $170.00. Applicant will pay $135.00 registration fee to the City of Oak Ridge and $35.00 online to the American Red Cross. Enrollment is limited.
