City of Oak Ridge Central Services Complex employees were treated to a pizza party celebration on Friday, May 6 after reducing the amount of recyclable material thrown into the trash from 40 percent to 10 percent over the course of five months. This was the final goal achieved for the COR Values: Recycling program, which is run by Oak Ridge AmeriCorps members, Ellen Comeau and Erin Kelbly. Doug McGill, Municipal Marketing Manager from Waste Connections, generously donated Jet’s Pizza for the reward.

COR Values is an initiative that the members created that aims the help the City of Oak Ridge become more sustainable as an organization. COR Values: Recycling is the pilot program based in the Central Services Complex (CSC) and is a partnership with Waste Connections. The goals of COR Values: Recycling are to make recycling easier, provide recycling education and to increase overall recycling levels.
