On November 17, 2016, at approximately 5:57 p.m., the Oak Ridge Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire on Brandeis Lane with reports of flames in the kitchen and one disabled person inside the residence.
The first units on the scene found that everyone was out of the home and assisted those occupants away from the structure. The fire was out upon arrival with smoke still in the residence.
Upon investigation, it was found that cooking oil was being heated on the stove and caught fire. One of the occupants attempted to remove the burning oil and dropped it, which resulted in burns to the face, arms and hands.
The occupant was treated on scene by Oak Ridge Fire Department and Anderson County EMS. The patient was then transported to UT Medical Center by Anderson County EMS.
There is no update at this time on the condition of the patient.
