Controlled burns set for area of Wisconsin Avenue and Whippoorwill Drive Monday, April 5

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (April 5, 2021) -- The Tennessee Division of Forestry and the Department of Energy will be conducting controlled burns beginning at noon and ending at 7 p.m. today. It will continue Tuesday, if necessary. 

The controlled burn will be in the area of Wisconsin and Whippoorwill Drive. 

The effort is supported by the Oak Ridge Fire Department.

This will create smoke in the area. This is a controlled burn. Do not call 911 to report smoke in the area unless you see fire threatening private property. 

The walking and cycling trails will be closed to the public. There will be fire fighting vehicles and personnel in the area, please use caution.
