Oak Ridge Police Announce Captain Promotion

Apr 24, 2019 - The Oak Ridge Police Department named Brad Jenkins as its newest captain, promoting him from the rank of lieutenant earlier this month. Captain Jenkins was publicly recognized by Oak Ridge City Council at the regular meeting on April 8.

Registration Open for Summer Aquatic Programs

Apr 22, 2019 - Registration is now open for the Oak Ridge City Aquatics (ORCA) program and summer swimming lessons offered by the Recreation and Parks Department.

A.K. Bissell Park Playground Temporarily Closed

Apr 18, 2019 - The Recreation and Parks Department has temporarily closed A.K. Bissell Park Playground due to a partially fallen tree nearby. The playground will remain closed until crews are able to safely remove the tree.

Oak Ridge Native Wins Pulitzer Prize in Music

Apr 16, 2019 - Oak Ridge native Ellen Reid has won the 2019 Pulitzer Prize in music for her debut opera titled “p r i s m,” which received nationwide praise. Reid is a 2001 graduate of Oak Ridge High School who now works as a composer in L.A. and New York.

Citywide Brush Pick-Up Begins April 29

Apr 16, 2019 - The citywide brush pick-up program will begin Monday, April 29, 2019. Tree limbs as well as bagged yard clippings and leaves will be picked up. Collection efforts will follow the proposed schedule as closely as possible.

Oak Ridge Announces New Senior Transportation Program

Apr 12, 2019 - The City of Oak Ridge and Oak Ridge Senior Center are working to implement a new transportation program for senior citizens. The program, called “MyRide Oak Ridge,” has already provided its first ride with the full program set to roll out soon.

Notice of Upcoming Holiday Schedule Adjustments

Apr 12, 2019 - City of Oak Ridge administrative offices will be closed in observance of Good Friday on April 19. Oak Ridge Public Library and Oak Ridge Civic Center (including the Senior Center) will be closed April 19-21 for the holiday.

Annual Egg Hunt Scheduled for April 13, Volunteers Needed

Apr 05, 2019 - The Recreation and Parks Department will host the 2019 Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 13, in A.K. Bissell Park beginning at 11 a.m. Over 15,000 candy and prize-filled eggs will be hidden inside the park.
