UPCOMING CHANGES FOR SUMMER READING PROGRAM

As many of you know, the Children’s Room has been utilizing the library curbside pick-up for our Summer Reading Program. We’ve been able to pass along information, provide thematic Grab & Go bags, and collect reading logs during our weekday afternoons. Because of the library roofing project, our building will be off limits for an unknown amount of time starting July 3rd. Unfortunately, this will impact the last two weeks of SRP.

With this in mind, the Children’s Room staff has made the following changes:

  • READING LOGS: As you may have noticed when registering, our reading logs are fillable pdfs. You can download them, fill them out, and attach them to an email sent to srporpl@gmail.com. You can also take a picture of the reading log and email it – as long as we can see the participant’s name and book list. If you wish to turn in a paper log, the red mailbox by the outside book drop will be open and accessible, however don’t try dropping anything off if a large crane is here. You will not be allowed. Please make sure your email address is on the reading log, and we will contact you with any questions.
  • REGISTRATION: We have been receiving reading logs from patrons who are not on our registration list. If you did not hit “submit” you are not registered. If you think you registered, but would like to check, please email Ms. Michaela – srporpl@gmail.com.
  • EVENT SCHEDULE: Since all events this summer are virtual, our event schedule will remain the same. Look for magician Barry Mitchell’s takeover of our Facebook page on Monday, July 6th @ 10:30. Musician Sean Gaskell is expected to provide a video of his skills on the African Kora, and we’ll post that July 7th @ 10:30. Our final program features the Runaway Puppet Theater, and will post on July 13th at 10:30.
  • DUE DATES: We have extended the due dates for Reading Logs to Monday, July 20th. We will need to mail all prize packs this year. If you did not provide your mailing address, you will be contacted for one. We hope to ship all prize packs beginning Wednesday, July 22nd.
Thanks for your flexibility and understanding at this time. Our Imagine Your Story Summer Reading Program has taken a great deal of reimagining this year. We thank our patrons, library staff, and the Friends of the Oak Ridge Public Library for their support.
