The Power of Public Works at the 2nd Annual Public Works Community Open House, sponsored by LDA Engineering, in recognition of National Public Works Week, May 20-26, 2018

The #PublicWorks Department is excited to offer this free community event for those that live and work in #OakRidge.  Kids and adults alike will be able to get a behind the scenes look at how we serve the City in a fun, interactive, yet educational way. The Open House is designed to increase public awareness about the contributions of Public Works, as well as educating the community about the duties, practices, and goals of the department.

 

Featured activities

Interactive activity stations for kids of all ages.

Displays and demonstrations showing the methods, tools, and equipment used by the different    divisions in the department.

Kids bicycle road course (bring bikes and helmets) - ride through a mini road course designed to look like a city street.

Stowers Touch-the-Truck event features the types of trucks and heavy equipment we use to keep the City safe and running smoothly.

The Power of Public Works poster contest submissions from the after school care programs in Oak Ridge will be on display. The winners will be announced that evening.

There will also be face painting, a bounce house, live music, food and more.

Entertainment under our shed will begin at 5:00pm with the amazing vocals of our very own Brandon Harmon, followed by the Magic & Comedy of Danny Whitson at 6:00pm. Winners of #ThePowerOfPublicWorks poster competition will be announced at 6:30pm, and then David Shepard will liven things up once again with some great acoustical music around 6:45pm.
