Oak Ridge, TN Profile
•
The city of Oak Ridge has developed the "Oak Ridge Guide to Living Green," providing residents information about
sustainable resources and how to become more sustainable.
•
Heritage Center Business Park markets primarily to energy-related businesses and is currently the home to two solar
farms. Horizon Center Business Park includes 500 acres of green space and conservation areas, as well as the oldest
tree in East Tennessee.
•
A local incentive program is in place to reward companies for sustainable design, LEED certified construction,
conservation and energy efficient measures.
•
Building inspectors in the city of Oak Ridge are trained in energy code and LEED certification standards.
•
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) has one of the largest collections of LEED-Certified buildings
on a single campus in the entire Southeast.
